P(E)SU manufacturers organized within CEFIC Bisphenols Europe are collaborating to address key regulatory challenges related to drinking water and food contact legislation. Their efforts focus on two primary objectives: (1) maintaining BPA and BPS on the Drinking Water Directive (DWD) positive list for relevant P(E)SU applications, and (2) securing an authorization for PESU/BPS under Regulation (EU) 2024/3190, comparable to the authorization granted for PSU.

In this presentation, Dr. Oliver Schmid, regulatory and product safety expert at BASF SE, will provide an update on the current regulatory landscape, highlighting the group's key priorities, challenges, and ongoing activities. He will also outline how DGMT members (and other interested stakeholders) can support manufacturers in advancing these important regulatory initiatives.
