Membranes enabling water production for hydrogen generation

Water quality is crucial for the production of hydrogen, which is one of the future energy resources. Different hydrogen technologies and the availability of water resources place high demands on water treatment. On the one hand, the longevity of components must be ensured, while on the other hand, the use of diverse water sources—including highly saline waters, wastewater, or heavily contaminated waters—is necessary to operate sustainably.

Membrane technology offers a wide range of technologies and components that can be used individually or in combination with other methods to create a solid foundation for various hydrogen technologies.

DGMT members offer components, systems, processes, and holistic solutions as part of the water treatment process chain that produces ultra-pure water. Active pursuit of current developments, systemic studies, and integrated approaches is being actively pursued by DGMT's institutional members.

The “Membranes for Climate” working group aims to provide insights into the activities and offerings of DGMT members regarding water treatment for the hydrogen industry.
